There are various essay competitions and similar that aim to recognise achievements in bioethics. Many of these are suitable for students. If there are any you are aware of that we have not listed, please do let us know!

 

Hastings Center Awards for Excellence in Journalism on Ethics and Reprogenetics

Deadline: Thursday 31st May 2018

These awards exist to recognise journalism that not only explains the science and concerns about safety and efficacy, but also engages broader philosophical questions. The work must be investigative or interpretative journalism of up to 10,000 words, written in English for the lay adult in a print magazine or newspaper, or on a news website that publishes regularly.

Trachtenberg Essay Contest

This annual contest invites students to write essays responsive to the three topics provided. Cash prizes are available for the best three submissions.

IME F1 and F2 UK Doctors Essay Competition

Deadline: passed (will be updated when next year's contest opens)

This annual contest is for F1 and F2 doctors in the UK, and essays must be about an ethical issue raised by an experience as a junior doctor. Five winners each receive £300, with the best overall entry receiving the Robert Hillman Prize of £250 in addition.
